…captures me. draws me in. makes me smile.

I was on a walk this morning, listening to the song “I am Light” by India.Arie. My friend suggested this song only a couple days ago, for I was looking for new songs for my spotify. I created an ‘Aug2020’ playlist and added her song onto the list.

I am walking around my neighborhood, admiring the large trees and various shades of green everywhere. The dew on the grass formed perfectly round circles of water.

There is something about the angle of the sun in the monring that creates the most beautiful creations. Because the light isn’t directly over our heads, it penetrates the trees and the houses and the people on walks, and leaves behind a figure on the ground.

There is something about the shadows. Something about the lucky bits of sun that reaches to the Earth, traveling so far to get here. There is something about it all that touches me. So, I reach out a touch the light. It’s inviting and warm and healing.

I am captured, I am drawn in, and I am smiling.

Light can do the most interesting of things and create the most interesting of sites.

A glass cup leaving a shadow of details across a white table

The details the morning sun can bring. I wake up before my alarm, for my room lets in a lot of light. A treat is left on my table. I stared at it for awhile. The endless amount of details. So simply coming from a circle in our sky. I pick up the glass and create new things with the light. I giggle. I am amazed. I become a child again- so captured by the art that freely layed upon my room.

There’s something about the morning sun that brings out the soul of my inner child.
